When to begin?

It is NEVER TOO EARLY to train a dog. From seven weeks up, a pup can be trained or re-socialized to behave appropriately. The emphasis at this stage is on prevention of problems. Research has shown that most pups from seven weeks of age can learn almost as well as their adult counterparts.

Puppies must have their first three sets of Parvo vaccinations to enroll in classes (usually 14 weeks of age). Private training can begin as soon as you bring your puppy home.

By the same token, it is NEVER TOO LATE to train or re-train an older dog. If the dog is in sound mental and physical condition, he will accept training. It is NOT TRUE THAT AN OLD DOG CANNOT LEARN NEW TRICKS.
